Wedding Straw Work and Favours

Wedding Straw Work and Favours

€100.00

The straw items featured here are from a Lughnasadh wedding, which took place on the 1st of August.

I was invited to contribute to this wonderful event, held at the alternative wedding venue in Mount Druid, Castletown Geoghegan, County Westmeath. https://mountdruid.ie

Each item was specifically commissioned by the wedding planner and the couple themselves, to follow the theme of Lughnasadh, The Harvest and the Corn.

If you are interested in discussing something similar, or have your own ideas as to how the straw could be incorporated into your special celebration, I would be very happy to discuss this with your both.

The above fee covers our initial discussion of how you would be interested in incorporating straw work into your wedding theme, and what I can offer you.

Depending upon what you decide, I would then be able to give you more specific costing of each item.

This wedding focused upon the theme of Lughnasadh, but you may also be considering the old Irish tradition of The Straw Boys visiting your wedding. Not only did they bring their own particular brand of entertainment (playing musical instruments, singing, telling tales, dancing with the bride and bridesmaids for good luck). They could also follow the tradition of crowning the Bride on her wedding day.

The Straw Boys were known to appear unexpectedly at Irish weddings to bring good luck and fertility into the newly wedded couples life.

Traditional straw ‘Love Favours’ could also be incorporated into your wedding theme. With each guest wearing either a male or female love favour, instead of flowers. The advantage of these would be that they are not perishable, and can be kept by your guests after the wedding as a momento of this special event.
